FAQs about dental implants and WE Dental Clinic
How painful is getting dental implants?
Most patients are surprised by how little pain they feel during the procedure. The area is fully numbed with local anesthesia, so you won’t feel sharp pain—only some pressure or movement. After the surgery, mild soreness or swelling is normal for a few days, but this can usually be managed with pain medication prescribed by your dentist. Many patients say it’s no worse than having a tooth removed.
How to know if I’m suitable for dental implants?
Dental implants are suitable for most healthy adults who have missing teeth. The main things your dentist will check are:
- Healthy gums (no untreated gum disease).
- Strong jawbone to hold the implant securely (bone grafting can be an option if bone is thin).
- Overall health (conditions like uncontrolled diabetes or heavy smoking can affect healing).
The best way to know for sure is to have a dental consultation and a 3D scan, which lets your dentist assess your bone and gum health.
How long does a dental implant last?
With proper care, dental implants can last 15–20 years or more. The implant itself is made of titanium, which bonds permanently with your bone. The crown (the visible tooth) may need replacement after 10–15 years due to normal wear and tear, but with good oral hygiene and regular checkups, your implant can stay strong for decades.
How much does a dental implant cost, and what’s included and what’s not?
The cost of a single dental implant in Singapore typically ranges from $3,000 to $6,000 before MediSave claims, depending on the clinic, materials used, and complexity.
Usually included:
- Consultation and treatment planning
- Surgical placement of the implant
- Healing cap/abutment (connector)
- Crown (the artificial tooth)
- Medications for recovery
Usually not included (may be extra):
- Bone grafting or sinus lift (if your jaw needs strengthening)
- Additional scans or X-rays
It’s always best to ask for a full cost breakdown upfront so there are no surprises.
